Problem Note 32033: An invalid file error occurs when using Power and Sample Size on Windows Vista
You might receive an invalid file error that is similar to the following when using Power and Sample Size 3.1 on Windows Vista:
ERROR: Invalid file, C:\Program Files\SAS\SASPowerAndSampleSize\3.1\pss1234.sas.
The error occurs when you click Calculate to run the project.
Note: The filename in the error will vary; pss1234.sas shown in the preceding error is an example.
The workaround is to run the Power and Sample Size application as an administrator:
- Access the programs list for SAS.
- Locate SAS Power and Sample Size.
- Right-click SAS Power and Sample Size 3.1.
- Select Run as Administrator.
A secondary approach is to turn off the User Account Control (UAC) in Windows Vista:
- Open the Control Panel .
- Select User Accounts to access
Turn User Account Control on or off.
- Deselect Use user Account Control to help protect your
computer.
- Click OK, then restart the machine.
Note: Turning off the UAC could present security issues.
